Making a documentary.
During a pandemic.

When I began training to become a foster and adoptive parent in 2017, it became obvious the general public had little to no knowledge of what goes on inside Kentucky’s child welfare system.

The system is objectively broken, and children in the state’s care are the ones who bear the brunt of the shortfalls. Throughout 2020 and 2021, I began putting together my first documentary. I used my unique perspective as a foster parent, adoptive parent, and journalist, plus the experience I gained while working at Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services, to give an inside look of the foster care system.

I gathered interviews with anyone willing to share their story - former foster youth, foster parents, social workers, etc. I produced, wrote, edited, and shot this all on my own.

I am grateful and privileged to share these stories, as many of these perspectives and voices are usually silenced.
